CIPS Music Day
What a fantastic Music Week we had! Students were treated to a rich blend of learning, culture, and pure musical joy throughout the week.
Year 4 and Year 5 pupils kicked things off with a memorable visit to the Conservatoire François Mitterrand, where they discovered the inner workings of the grand piano through a live demonstration. They also explored a museum showcasing antique instruments dating back centuries, including pieces representing the diverse cultures found right here in Mauritius. The visit gave students valuable insight into the people, past and present, who have shaped music both locally and internationally through playing or crafting instruments.
Back at school, students who wished to showcase their own musical talents whether through singing, playing an instrument, or dancing were given the spotlight during a special music session. A video compilation capturing these wonderful moments will be shared soon, so watch this space!
The week wrapped up in spectacular fashion on Friday. Students were welcomed with upbeat tunes from DJ Gab, setting an energetic tone for the day. They then enjoyed two fascinating workshops: one introducing the didgeridoo, presented by Mrs Ingrid Leste from Energia, where students learned about its origins and how to play it; and another on the bagpipe, presented by the Krishna Bagpipe Band.
Students were also treated to a delightful surprise as some of their talented teachers took to the floor to perform a special dance for them, much to everyone's delight. To bring Music Week to a joyful close, students were treated to a lively performance by the Steel Groove Band, joined by other talented artists.
