Homeroom Primary Teacher (for the year 2026)At Clavis, we aim to nurture knowledge, self-awareness, and meaningful relationships with people and the environment, in line with the IB mission of developing global citizens. Our teachers create safe, stimulating classrooms that foster learning and collaborate closely with parents and staff to support each child’s holistic growth. While we have no confirmed openings at the moment, we may soon seek experienced educators for middle and upper primary levels (Year 2–Year 6); passionate candidates are encouraged to review the qualifications below and apply here.
Homeroom Pre-Primary Teacher (for the year 2026)At Clavis, we aim to nurture knowledge, self-awareness, and meaningful relationships with people and the environment, in line with the IB mission of developing global citizens. Teaching Assistant (possible 2026)While we currently have no confirmed openings, we may be looking for passionate applicants in the future who have experience working with and supporting children in schools, particularly in the early years, or who are recent graduates holding a teaching certificate or education degree. Educational Intern (possible openings)We are open to applications for short-term internships across various teaching areas. These may be part-time or full-time and relate to your current or planned field of study in education. Internships supporting post-secondary school requirements are typically unpaid; however, in active, hands-on roles, there may be an opportunity to apply for a small stipend or honorarium. Specialist Teachers: French, ICT, Music, PE, Art, LibraryWhile we have no confirmed openings at this time, we may seek interested applicants in the future. We welcome candidates with proven experience teaching visual arts to children aged 5–11 years. Please see the qualifications below and submit your application here.

Important Notice

Clavis is deeply committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and expects the same from all employees. All new staff may be subject to pre-employment checks, including identity verification, criminal background checks, and qualification verification. Applicants who will be working with students are required to provide references from at least two supervisors from previous or current experience working with children.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements for Teachers

● Possess excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills● Must be fluent in English and have excellent skills in reading, writing, and speaking● Must have previous experience working with similarly-aged students in a primary or pre-primary school (ages from 3 to 11)● Must have a recognised teaching qualifications (education degree or teaching certification). For specialist teachers, there are some exceptions where a degree in your field of teaching or specialisation may be considered instead of general teaching qualifications. ● Must be a Mauritian citizen or permanent Mauritian resident (see below for foreign applicants)

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements for Teaching Assistants

 Possess excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills● Must have strong English communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking● Must have recognized teaching qualifications (education degree or teaching certification) OR enrolled in a post-secondary programme working towards qualifications● Must be a Mauritian citizen or permanent Mauritian resident● Not required, but can be an advantage to understand and speak French or Creole (in supporting early years’ students who might be new to English)

*International or foreign applicants:

Non-citizens or non-permanent Mauritian residents can only be hired through government approval of an Occupational Work Permit. We are very happy to consider international applicants; however, please be aware that contracts are local and include national healthcare, but do not include a housing allowance. The required permit salary of approximately Rs60,000 + transportation allowance is certainly adequate to live on but can be challenging depending on your circumstances.
